I had a whole post written up getting ready to complain about the cost of mass market paperbacks (up to $10.99 these days, wtaf) and then it hit me – it may cost a few dollars more but I can afford it. I know there are people out there who can’t afford to buy books. That $11 can put a meal on the table.
So I am grateful. I am grateful that I can afford to buy books.
And I need to check my first world privilege and go make a donation to literacy program.
Yeah, I know what you mean. We should be more grateful for being able to afford our favorite things. 🙂

I think you’re right we need to count our blessings, but on the other hand, these prices are cost-prohibitive for others. Do they really need to be so high? That’s one reason I think the little libraries are so important. Not many people can afford it in this economy.

Book prices are getting out of control, though… I get gift cards and they stretch a lot less than they used to!
