Week in Review: March 13 to 19

I don’t have too much to say about the past week. I lead such an exciting life! *sarcasm* I did go see Kong: Skull Island on Tuesday with a friend. In Imax 3-D. It was awesome! I love giant creatures and that movie definitely fit the bill. I also went to see Beauty and the Beast today. I really enjoyed it.

I also had a follow up appointment for my back on Wednesday. I’m all clear. So it’s the muscles in my back, not my spine. Fortunately, the pain has lessened and it just flares up when I’ve been sitting for a long time. So I take a lot of stand up breaks at work.

One thing I haven’t mentioned in earlier posts was that I gave up shopping for Lent. I can buy necessities (like groceries) but no impulse shopping. The first two days were hard and then it got easy. But Friday was a bad day. I really struggled but I didn’t give in.

Smut – Karina Halle

Tell Me How This Ends is a love triangle story. I don’t mind love triangles and this was a good story. Two brothers fall for the same girl and she doesn’t realize that they’re related until feelings happen. Love triangles can have a LOT of angst but this story was balanced. I liked how it ended and no one was left feeling like the bad guy.

Love in the Afternoon was a re-read that Wena talked me into. LOL She was reading it and her comments about Beatrix and Christopher had me wanting to re-read it too. I love those two. Beatrix with her love of animals and how Christopher wants her despite thinking he wants someone else.

Don’t let Smut’s title fool you. This was a fun story about two classmates who have to write a novella together for a writing class. It’s a cute celebration of the romance genre and nerds. Plus some scorching hot sex scenes but they weren’t gratuitous. Karina Halle is one of my favourite authors. And she’s Canadian!

I haven’t picked anything up yet but I have a library book due later this week so I’ll probably try and get that read before its due.

How was your week?

Thank you! It’s starting to get hard. But weekends are usually my shopping times and if they correspond to pay days? LOL I’m getting itchy but I’m quite pleased with myself so far.
